Hot Spots to Cool Down around Phoenix

If your timing is off and you happen to be in Phoenix during the summer months, you’ll be looking for great ways to beat the heat. That’s why we’re covering some of our favorite swimming holes in this article. Whether you’re looking for a posh place to sunbathe, cocktail in hand, or a wet and wild adventure, there’s something for everyone in the Valley of the Sun. Read on for a great variety of places to sport your itsy-bitsy, teenie-weenie, yellow polka dot bikini!

Splash Pad

Maybe you have little ones in tow, and you’re just looking for a place where they can run around and release some energy without getting heatstroke. Splash pads abound in the Valley, but The Cloud in Kiwanis Park is a great, FREE option. The park offers a lot of other activities and amenities as well.

Resort

The Lylo Swim Club at the Rise Uptown hotel offers a lively resort-style experience for those looking to mingle poolside. With great eats, fancy cocktails, and a DJ spinning seasonally on weekend afternoons, Lylo is a hip spot to dine, drink, dance, and dip.

Water Park

If splashy thrills are more your vibe, there are many water parks to choose from. The Arizona Grand Resort & Spa has all of the classics–a lazy river, a wave pool, giant slides, and more. Plus, it offers other amenities such as more fitness-geared swimming options and a full menu of spa services.

Natural Swimming Hole

If you’re looking for adventure, Arizona has some great swimming holes tucked away in unexpected places. You’ll have to travel a bit farther outside of the city, but if you want gorgeous scenery paired with daring cliff jumping opportunities, a little drive won’t stand in your way! Our favorite spot is known as The Crack at Wet Beaver Creek. We know the name alone makes you want to dive right in, but first you’ll have to hike a few miles along a dry and dusty trail, so make sure that you are prepared.

River Tubing

Salt River Tubing is a staple summer activity for fun-loving, sun-loving Phoenix crowds. It’s best to gather up your squad, slather on the sunscreen, and responsibly designate a driver for the drive back to town!

Indoor Pool

Let’s be honest–some summer days in Phoenix are too hot even for a waterpark . . . unless, of course, the waterpark is indoors! One of the newest wet and wild options in the Valley is the indoor waterpark at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scottsdale. This is also a good option for those few chilly weeks in the dead of our desert winter.

These hot spots to cool down are just the tip of the iceberg, but they are some of our favorites. Let us know what you think of our picks in the comments below!
